The Performers
Headlining tonight will be the Kindred Spirit Band
The Rusty Rovers play traditional acoustic folk music from around the British Isles (jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas etc.) and sing some well known Irish songs. Songs by Steve Earle, Waterboys, Pogues, Dubliners, and even Rod Stewart can also get an airing. They have featured at Crawley Folk Festival. As well as playing gigs, the boys also host a very successful acoustic open mic night in Epsom. The band has a maximum of 5 players- Ed-fiddle/mandolin/vocals Rich-guitar/vocals/banter Ron-banjo/whistle/bodhran/mouth organ/washboard/kitchen sink Pete-guitar/vocals/cahon Bill-fiddle/sea shanties. Today we will be having a smaller but never-the-less, excellent line-up.

Peter London Peter London had been gracing folk clubs and open mic nights in the West London area for many years, with his well loved and energetic style. Not only does he write brilliant folk songs but he performs them with passion, a great voice and superb guitar and harmonica skill. If you haven't seen Peter play before, you are in for a real treat! Don't miss him!

Paula Tait Original and Traditional Songs from the Baltic to the Balkans and Beyond... Paula's self-penned folk songs are steeped in that inexplicable longing and nostalgia the Portuguese call Saudade. Always passionately delivered, her compelling vocals are accompanied by harp, guitar or kantele. Every now and then, a more forthright protest song in the vein of Ewan MacColl appears, usually fully formed and spitting - or weeping - blood. Her choice of traditional songs reflects her love of many of Europe's musical traditions, particularly those of the Wanderer and the Outsider. You might hear echoes of Fado, Sevdah, Rembetika, Klezmer, Sephardic and Gypsy music, along with folk songs from the Baltic to the Balkans and anywhere in between. |

Simon O'Grady Simon has a smooth, mellifluous and yearning voice and his guitar playing is excellent and Bert Janch-esque in style. His material is largely English folk songs and his own, self penned songs, which are of a similar style. Simon was part of the brilliant "Grand Union" folk band before it disbanded. Here he is playing with them...
